An emotion driven experience

Dear Ryan,

We are in the swing of summer schedule. This means you wake up too early, and go to bed too late. I’m sure there will be a day when I am dragging you out of bed in the morning – but as it stands you apparently are a morning person.  I don’t sign you up for a lot of camps, you don’t seem to really enjoy them and honestly the summer goes by so quickly.  Although the way you argue and wrestle with your brother there are days where I re-think this. Having an open schedule makes it easy to pack up the car and head to the beach for the afternoon.

The day I took these pictures the entire beach was covered in a mist/fog. It wasn’t cold, actually a little muggy and warm. We were surrounded by a thickness in the air. Of course the photographer in me was geeking out over the light and atmosphere. You and your brother ran and played in the surf and were collecting and throwing seaweed. I had this idea for you to wear it around your neck. The look on your face made me laugh. You looked at me as if I was asking you to eat something horrible. With a little bit of pleading, and the promise of a smoothie – you obliged. I’m so happy you did. I love how these turned out – they look just as they did in my mind. My little beach boy.

Love,

Mommy

These images are so gorgeous, Kristin! I’m so glad he obliged (with some minor bribing!) because they are perfect! We love to keep an open schedule in the summer too — you’re right, it goes by way too fast. <3

Well, it would’ve taken more than a smoothie to convince me to wrap myself in seaweed! But I’m sure glad your guy did because the images look so cool. I love the lazy days too … we are underplanners as well just to keep things open for days like this. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
